Ruddington’s support for our local “NG11 Foodbank” went one step further this month – becoming Ruddington Sainsbury’s “Local Charity of the Year”.
Shoppers voted online and in store for a choice of three shortlisted local charities, to become the shop’s nominated charity partner for the next 12 months. NG11 Foodbank – which operates from The Hope Centre on Southchurch Drive in Clifton – was the winner. The Sainsburys “Local Charity of the Year” initiative is a nationwide programme that sees local stores support a community charity over the course of one full year, with activities including fundraising, awareness raising and volunteering.
Announcing the results of the vote, Ruddington store manager Adam Hawksworth said: “Sainsburys work hard to support the local community, and I think the NG11 Foodbank is an excellent cause. As our Local Charity of the Year, we will support the Foodbank throughout the year, with various events, raffles, and our collection tins”.
Eagle-eyed shoppers may have noticed the addition of a food donation point in Sainsbury’s too, also in aid of the NG11 Foodbank. Complementing the collection points at Ruddington Co-op and the Honeycomb Charity Shop, customers can now donate food and toiletry items on their Sainsbury’s shopping trip.
You can keep up to date with the latest NG11 Foodbank wishlist on Facebook and Twitter.
